Family: Solanaceae
This rare plant is a very unusual Brunfelsia relative with racemes of small tubular red-orange flowers from spring to fall. Grows as a scandent upright bushy plant to 3 feet, but needs some support, or try it as a hanging basket plant. Requires well-drained soil rich in organic matter, part shade. Hummingbirds love it. Suitable for frost-free areas where summers are relatively cool, such as California coastal areas. Hails from the cloud forests of the volcanic mountains of southern Mexico and Guatemala at 4,000 to 9,000 feet elevation. USDA zones 9 - 11.
