Goldfussia is an evergreen shrub-like perennial, uncommon in the US, but popular in Australian gardens. It has glossy, slim leaves, which are an attractive dark purple in color. Small curved lavender trumpet-like flowers appear in winter, and intermittently the rest of the year. For the deepest leaf color, it should be grown in full sun, but is perfectly happy and will bloom in part shade. It is best suited to warm, humid conditions and prefers rich, well-drained soil. It grows up to 4 feet tall and should be pruned after flowering to promote bushiness. It makes an excellent purple colored low hedge or border. Frost tender. USDA zones 9b - 11.
