Family: Acanthaceae Showy tropical subshrub with 2 inch funnel-shaped light purple flowers. Evergreen with mostly upright unbranched cane-like stems and 5 inch lanceolate softly hairy leaves. Grows 2 to 3 feet tall. Best in bright shade or full sun with moist, well-drained soil. Native to Guatemala and Mexico (Chiapas). Protect from frost. USDA zones 9 - 11.
