Family: Acanthaceae
Large striking terminal crown-like clusters of brilliant golden apricot colored flowers. Leaves are a glossy deep green with vivid red color of the midribs and nerves on the underside. Grows to 2 feet high and blooms in mid-winter. Try indoors, in a greenhouse, or outdoors in the tropics. Needs warmth, humidity, and part shade to thrive. Although quite rare, it was introduced into cultivation in the 1880's. Native to Mexico. USDA zones 10 - 11.
We previously came up with the name and sold it as Justicia species "Orange Flame", which now some have erroneously applied to Justicia sp. Sidicaro.
