Family: Acanthaceae These plants are cultivated chiefly for their colorful, glossy foliage. This one is with solid dark bronze, almost chocolate colored leaves. Evergreen tropical shrub to 6 feet, but can be kept to 3 feet as a greenhouse plant. Flowers are tubular, reddish-purple. Best with bright light and moist soil. Use in tropical landscape beds or in mixed containers. Heat and humidity tolerant. Minimum winter temperature of 40F.
