Roughly round shaped leaves held upright on sturdy hairy petioles. Leaf is green with brown to black checkered markings and sparse hairs, the amount of checking depends on the amount of light, good light means more checks. Leaf has a lazy spiral with irregular lobes and serrated sparsely hairy edge. Very striking coloration, the spiral, size and shape distinguish it from other checked begonias including its parent Begonia 'Deco Checks' which also inspired its name. Spring flowers are interesting with the ovaries being green with dark pink petals. Showy, sturdy, easy to grow and a great addition for the begonia collector. (Thompson)
