Leaves are lobed with lazy double spirals and a lightly hairy surface. As with all rhizomatous, the coloration can be variable with the light conditions. Begonia 'Carol Knight' may vary from its tawny brown color, especially in good light where its new leaves are red that gradually fade to an unusual aqua marine green. In all its color changes it maintains its most prominent features which are its prominent red veins, glowing center, and a waxy layer to mature leaves. The waxy layer makes taking photos that do it justice much harder. Leaves are also sparsely hairy with a serrated hairy edge. Hot pink flowers in spring. Very full growing, vigorous and easy to grow. Visitors who see it in person always are drawn to it. Very novel and a great begonia to collect. (Thompson)
