This begonia came close to getting the name B. 'Screwy McCooey' because of all the curls and spiraling. Though Madame McCooey said she was fine with that name, we went with B. 'Madame McCooey' instead. Medium leaved semi-upright growing rhizomatous. The bright medium green leaves have variable brown markings, spirals with a white sinus, a nearly crested hairy edge, and is so curly and full that it's hard to tell where one leaf ends and the next begins. Leaves are on thick upright petioles from strong rhizomes. Easy to grow and propagate. It has light pink speckled flowers in spring. (Thompson)
