This is a rare gorgeous tropical vine with hanging racemes of yellow-throated orange to red flowers. It's a slender twining climber, similar in habit to Thunbergia mysorensis, but with smaller leaves and racemes. The intensity of flower color seems to depend on temperature. In the warm tropics they are more orange, while in cooler regions they are the scarlet red. It should be given rich soil and excellent drainage with moisture. As with Thunbergia mysorensis, plant it on an arbor to allow the flowers to hang down effectively. It's native to the Himalayas, growing at elevations from 1,000 to 6,500 feet. USDA zones 9b - 11.
