Here is a rare plant for the tropical plant collector. This compact plant has pale lavender-pink bell-shaped flowers that emerge from reddish upright flower spikes. The blooming period is from fall to spring. It usually grows 3 to 4 feet tall, but in the tropics may reach up to 12 ft high. Leaves are a glossy, deep green, and slightly pleated in appearance. It prefers shade, average water and feeding. Native to tropical Asia and naturalized in Africa and the islands of the Indian Ocean. USDA zones 9b - 11
